Danube River – Eastern Romania

Providing a feasibility study of 10 ports on the Maritime Danube River in order to stimulate rehabilitation of the naval infrastructure.

The ports on the Maritime Danube River, Sulina, Tulcea, Galati, Braila, the ones on the secondary channel, Mahmudia, Chilia Veche, Macin with loading docks Turcoaia and Gura Arman as well as Harsova Port on the Fluvial Danube River all have diverse construction solutions and they were all built last century, most of them over 100 years old. Following on-site visits, the actual technical state showed deterioration due to aging, intense usage as well as the high water level of the Danube River causing flooding. Consitrans was responsible for a feasibility study of the 10 ports. The study demonstrated that the future degradation of the infrastructure causing difficulty in the ports’ function justified the investment in order to bring the technical parameters to their original status.
